Ladies, today I want to share with you an amazing little morsel of a treat for your skin- Dry Brushing! It is absolutely wonderful and you truly feel pampered every time you do it. So, what is it? Well, let me tell you!
The process of dry brushing (or skin brushing) has been around for thousands of years in various parts of the world. It has been more recently that this process is now being incorporated into our daily skincare routines. It is most often done with a natural bristled brush that is large enough to gently exfoliate your entire body, but small enough to fit in your hand (mine happens to be made from an agave plant and natural wood fibers). To dry brush, you simply begin gently brushing the skin, always moving towards the center of your body. You should avoid the chest, groin, and any other highly sensitive areas. I love circular motions, but you can do whatever feels best for you! You can also dry brush as frequently as you would like. I prefer to dry brush roughly every other day, especially during the drier/colder seasons to remove the extra cells that tend to want to flake off.
So, what are some of the perks of this lovely process?
*It removes dead skin cells in order for new skin cells to surface. Out with the Old in with the New!
*It improves circulation for the skin which allows it to receive a fresh batch of nutrients, oxygen, and blood supply that it may have been lacking before.
*It provides you with a fabulous “glow” to your skin making others think you have been out in the sun all day.
*It produces a greater elastic and protective layer for the rest of the body, unlike the dead cells that may have been on the surface previously.
I absolutely love this little part of my skincare care routine ladies! It is natural, it is an act of self-love, and it simply makes me feel AMAZING! You can find dry brushes at your local health and beauty stores, or you can order them online. Just be sure that they are all natural and the softness/firmness that you prefer for your pamper sesh!
I dry brush following a nice warm shower and a gentle massage using the "Laissez-faire" Body Oil!
I would love to hear your thoughts if you try out dry brushing! I promise you will fall in love with the process!
