People have changed haven't they?
Maybe this is a loaded question. People's expectations of what defines a life to be valuable and complete have changed.
We are no longer content unless we own our own business, are climbing the corporate ladder, make enough $$ for paying our bills and then having surplus, have a large social network and full social calendar, and have the house/travel experiences/instagram to prove how complete our lives are.
We find little time for rest and don't know what to do when we actually find the time. We need titles. We need individualism. But we also crave community acknowledgement and embrace. We have become a people of "busy" and "social and economic progression".
We have become defined by GO.
Today, however, I want to encourage you to become defined by STOP.
Not in the sense that you should throw all your dreams, aspirations, relationships, and commitments down the drain, but STOP in order to also embrace the simplicities in life. Remember what it was like to just spend a Saturday reading because you had no set agenda, writing a letter not because you had to but because it is what you wanted to do, or perhaps you would spend an entire evening in with those you love dressed up in your coziest p.j.s.
I don't know about you, but some of my most precious of moments are those I spend in quiet stillness with the hubby; soaking up all of the love and life that is present in this space. I also find pure joy doing something simply because I want to with no expectation or "social/work/economic climbing" attached.
There is something beautiful to be found in simplicity.
What does this mean for a world filled with people consumed with expectation? It means...
I want to encourage you to remember what it means to live, to breathe, to live simply in order to fully enjoy where you are today. There is always room in our lives for growth, absolutely, but also remember who you are and how much has already been given to you.
This week embrace the simple lovely ladies! And if you do, I would love to hear how it goes for you!
