We all have those little things we look forward to don't we? Whether it be dark chocolates, time spent with friends, or a Friday night movie night; there are things that just bring us utter joy. But my question to you is this, how often do you allow those items, those moments, that truly give you joy to enter your life? Is it yearly? Monthly? Perhaps weekly? Whatever the time frame, I encourage you to increase it. Yes, that's right; try and bring these items into your life on a daily basis, and my suggestion, try to incorporate it into your morning routine! Why not start the day off with those things that you love!?
I personally have a few morning "favorites"; kissing my husband good morning, pouring my first cup of coffee, reading my daily devotional, and my facial cleansing routine to name just a few. By incorporating these things into my morning routine I am excited to wake up; I look forward to the small moments before the rest of the world is up; and I feel more prepared to take on the rest of the day.
Perhaps your joy is found in spending quality time with your friends. Try making a commitment to go on a morning walk, share a telephone conversation over a cup of coffee, or send them a text letting them know you are thinking of them when you wake up.
Maybe your item that brings you happiness is a little trickier to incorporate into your morning routine. What if your favorite thing is to travel? How are you supposed to ever fit that into your 15 minutes of morning? Simple, perhaps a scent reminds you of your favorite place, or you kept a bottle of sand from the beach you go to every year, or a breakfast food reminds you of one of your exotic locations, or there was an activity you connected to such as yoga, meditation, or tae kwon do. Whatever connects you to your travel, find a small morsel of that item to incorporate into your morning routine.
Our mornings start our days, why not fill them with joy? Fill them with those things you love most; those things that excite you and get you ready for the day ahead!
