September 1st is just around the corner, and as my life coaching education gets closer and closer, I am telling more and more people about my journey to be a holistic life coach. The more people I tell, the more people are asking me what does "holistic" mean anyway? How is this different from any other life coach? So today, I wanted to just share with you a simple way of explaining what it means to be holistic and how this is different from other coaching practices.
When someone refers to living holistically, they are living in such a way where they are aware of the connection between mind, body and spirit. If one of these areas is suffering, the whole self suffers. For example, what you feed your body physically can have a direct effect on how you are feeling mentally. Eat junk, feel crappy; eat healthy, feel energized. Get the gist? Another example, if you stress out about appearance, schedules, etc and the result may show up in your complexion, body language, or ability to sleep.
As a holistic life coach you are responsible for caring for the whole person. You look at how the person is doing with regards to the body, mind and spirit and plan a session accordingly. Although the client may be coming to see you for a particular issue, chances are this issue is connected to something bigger in more ways than one. To be a holistic life coach you need the ability to see the whole person, not simply a part of them.
I cannot wait to share my journey with you as I continue my education to helping you, help yourself! :)
