Ok ladies, today I want to encourage you to look at why you are trying to "lose the weight"- why you are stepping on the scale, trying on pants two sizes too small, and why you are restricting your diet and obsessing over exercise. Today, I encourage you to use this reflection as an opportunity to be honest with yourselves.
So here we go...
Many women I have met with over the last couple of years have come to me in hopes of losing weight for a wedding, a class reunion, or special event right around the corner. They obsess over losing the weight and want to do so... yesterday. They tell me their strict diet they put themselves on or their workout routine they are religiously committing to. Ladies, these events in our lives, these BIG MOMENTS, can definitely be stepping stones to reaching our healthier lifestyles; however, we must be careful as to WHY we are losing the weight.
Our bodies are temples. They were gifted to us to serve a purpose and they serve as vehicles to fulfill what we were put on this Earth to do. Our bodies help us achieve magnificent feats in life- they birth children, they comfort, they create. They are truly to be valued, cherished and cared for. FOR THIS REASON we should WANT to care for our bodies- to fuel them with healthy food, to exercise to keep them strong, to find rest to restore them, and to be gentle with them when needed.
When you have made consistent and lifelong lifestyle changes to better your body and your health, then embrace the gorgeous body you have been given! Embrace who you are and the temple in which you live.
